Julian Udine (any/all) is an artist from Manila, Philippines. Their practice moves through transformation, ecology as a collective body, and kapwa, or “the shared sense of self”, a philosophy rooted in Philippine Animism. Through this lens, Julian imagines chimera-like ecosystems, where lifeforms mix, evolve, and blur the boundaries between ourselves and the environment. This focus extends to our current reality, where nature is being irreversibly changed by human actions. Here, Julian frames contaminated ecosystems not as a marker of doom, but as the grounds for otherworldly and ever-adapting life.
Julian is based in London and holds a Masters in Art and Science degree at Central Saint Martins. They have exhibited work in London, Spain, and Manila, and is the recipient of Maison/0’s 2024 artist in residency program, an exhibiting artist for the 2025 Pinsent Masons x CSM Prize, a nominee for the 2025 MullenLowe Nova award, and a finalist for the 2026 Clifford Chance Sculpture Award. Julian was an artist speaker at the annual Art and Science Symposium, at conferences by the University of the Arts London, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and at seminars in the Institute of Architecture and Fine Art at Far Eastern University.
